From the nurses:
-Katie is not waking up as quickly as they would have expected. A CT has been ordered for today to ensure nothing was missed from before. An EEG will be also reinitated to ensure that her previous sedative was not masking ongoing seizures.
-Katie will likely not be off the respirator today unless she wakes up. When they have backed it down a bit her own breathing is not kicking in.
-It's good for people to talk to Katie and see if they can help her get up. They'll let us know if any feedback on her machines suggest otherwise. But at present, it's good to get her awake.
From our doctor friend:
-We are not in a worrisome or relaxed mode about this information. There are more questions he wants to ask when he gets here in a few hours, but we are still in a somewhat normative range for how long it might take someone to wake up. The increased orders for testing does suggest that doctors are at least elevating their efforts to make sure there isn't something more than just slowly emerging.
-Katie's history of running lower body temperature is NOT suggestive of needing Tylenol faster. It would be irresponsible to give Tylenol more often because that could mask worsening infection. There's no safety risk at her current temp regardless of baseline temperature.
-With no prior history of seizures, and none confirmed by EEG, it is unlikely that this is a significant concern.
More later.
