Katie was trying to communicate something to me. I kept asking if she was uncomfortable? or the sun was bothering her? Was she in pain? She kept shaking her head. She was trying to say something through the tubes. She was looking directly at me when she tried to finish the words. I finally asked her "are you saying you love me?" and she nodded immediately!!! Tears did flow!
After that she asked for something to write with. I explained that she wouldn't be able to write. After speaking with Eileen (rn) she said she can order a board for Katie to point to. Katie kept looking to the ivs on her right and reaching. I told her to not try to grab them. She shook her head. I asked if she wanted me to close the window? She nodded yes.
This has been an amazing morning. She is resting now and my tears are slowly drying. Now if we could just get her breathing to improve!
What amazing news! My own tears are falling. I can't wait to be able to see her again. Next time I'll get to bring pictures of her bday present - Eli!
