I want to be careful about raising expectations because absolutely nothing is conclusive or established. However, some positive signs occurred today. Katie's EEG profile noticeably ticks up when she is spoken to or touched - even on her toes. Our medical friend stated, "It is very hard to diagnose brain death with an active EEG." I was also informed she turned her head toward coworkers today.
CT will tell us alot. Our meeting today at 3:00 p.m. will be when we know more. Again, nothing here suggests she is clearly emerging and nothing eliminates brain death as a distinct possibility. However, there is a lot still to go and the present swing is up.
I was also informed that it takes 12 months to be diagnosed with Persistent Vegetative State. Until then it is considered a coma state.
